When it comes to paper drill bits, a common question that we see is: “Do I need Teflon-coated paper drill bits?”
Well, the short answer is – probably not.
For the long answer: teflon-coated bits are recommended only for high-volume drilling jobs or for use on coated paper stocks. The coating helps to reduce the heat produced by friction when drilling these types of jobs/workloads. Standard drill bits are perfectly fine for most all other paper stocks and job sizes.
Keep in mind that if you need to order drill bits with a Teflon coating, the coating process may take an extra few days if the drill bit diameter size is not commonly ordered.
