We’ve had several calls from customers who cannot seem to get the battery to charge on their Fuji FinePix JX500 or JX580 cameras that come with our digital passport system. You may be happy to know that this issue is often times very easy to solve.
For some reason, Fuji’s battery slot allows you to insert the battery in the wrong direction. You can see in the photo (to the right) the battery’s positive, negative and ‘T’ contacts are printed on the side that goes first into the camera. If you look closely inside the camera’s battery slot, you can see that there are 3 icons embossed into the gray plastic: (+) (T) (-). You should always match up those with the ones printed on the battery. Be sure to be insert the battery with the ‘Insert this direction’ arrow pointing into the camera, making sure that the negative (-) contact side is facing toward the outside edge of the camera.
So next time you find that your passport camera’s battery is not charging, try double checking the direction in which you inserted the battery – you may find that your battery charges by simply flipping it over.
