We recently received a question asking if the Sooper Sign U-Bracket for 1/4″ Boards could work with 1/8” thick boards. Since the bracket is designed to hold sign substrates that are ¼” thick, it seems fitting to ask and the answer is all about fitting as well.
The bracket’s channel will have some slop or wiggle room if a 1/8” thick board is inserted. To get rid of that and securely lock your board into the brackets you can simply create a shim. Just cut a small piece of the 1/8” sign substrate (maybe 2” x 2”) and insert it into the bracket with your sign and then you are able to fill the channel with a full ¼” of material. Your sign is sure to firmly stay in place, just make sure that your shims are cut small enough so they don’t show outside the bracket and that you put them all on the same side of the sign.
Do you have any cool sign mounting tips? We’d love for you to share them in the comments below.
